Cynthia Correia

Short Biography and Statement

cynthiacorreia.com

Cynthia Correia graduated from San Diego State University with a B.A. in Art. She is an accomplished artist and designer. Her dimensional paintings reflect her graphic design and building background and her love of color. Cynthia was influenced and inspired early on by Frank Stella and Josef Albers without really understanding the impact that color would have on the rest of her life. Her dimensional paintings and sculptures are painted on wood to give depth and texture to her work as well as a playful sense. At times her work is additive and at other times she invokes subtractive measures to draw you in. Her painting “Merging” is a play on the interaction of colors making the viewer feel an emotion that is soothing or stark. “Lean In“ draws the viewer into an architectural form that speaks to the Mayan culture.

Young Mee Lee

Short Biography and Statement

ymlee1000@gmail.com

My interest in painting began 30 years ago when I worked as a journalist, interviewing many artists. However, I only began formally studying art 16 years ago when I enrolled at Bellevue College to study interior design. While studying design, I realized that the precision required in working with lines, planes, and spaces—almost like mathematical formulas—didn’t suit me. That’s when I decided to pursue art, a long-held dream of mine. After briefly returning to Korea in 2014, I participated in numerous art competitions to further develop my skills as an artist. In 2023, I was invited as a featured artist at the Hoeryong Art Competition, and in 2024, I became an officially registered member of the Korean Fine Arts Association.
